Rose Tyler | The Idiots Lantern | S02.E07 by Hakuchan Rose Tyler | The Idiots Lantern | S02.E07 by Hakuchan

From the 1953 episode where Rose and the Doctor are in London for Queen Elizabeth's coronation.

My first Doctor Who cosplay and it's my absolute favorite character! After weeks of insanity, hand sewing 90% of the leather jacket/full duchesse satin skirt, cutting the peep toe and treating the crap out of the heels (they were originally closed toe and also leopard printed suede x_x) making the ring, painting the sunglasses...the only thing I didn't make from scratch or completely redo were the fishnet tights and the earrings!

{please do not copy/save and repost these photos, a LOT of blood, sweat & tears went into making this costume, and getting the hair and make up just right! Thank you!}

Wow, this is amazing! And you made the jacket yourself?! Woa, I think I am forced to make one myself to. It's impossible;e to find one online :'(

Could you perhaps push me in the right direction, like the kind of fabric I should use and what kind of pattern I should use? I have no idea where to start.

Thanks in advance!

This has to be one of my favourite Dr Who episodes.

I also did this cosplay and it's the coolest, really, but damn how did you get the shoes (I painted mine), glasses (also painted because I only found the white ones for sale), ring (it's a bit different) and the jacket pin(also different)?
Yours are identical!
Seriously congrats, this is the closest Idiot's Lantern cosplay I've ever seen.

Well firstly, Thank You very much! And so sorry for the delay in response, I've been away from deviantart for a while.

The biggest help I found in this costume was multi-surfaced craft paint. Since the paint works equally well on fabric, plastic & all other sorts of surfaces I could make sure that all the accessories matched. I made the pin & ring from scratch, using bendable plastic. Bought black sunglasses that looked the right shape; the shoes were originally leopard print pumps that I bought at Target for the height & shape of the heel. I actually cut the peep toe myself, cut the bows out of craft foam and then sealed everything with mod podge. The bows glued easily to the shoes & Once I found a shade of the multi-surfaced paint that was closest to the pink I bought a bunch of it & was able to adjust the shade closer to what I needed with white multi-surfaced paint. I basically blended one large batch of the pink & then painted my headband, sunglasses, shoes, ring & pin to all be the same shade. The edges for the shoes were probably the most annoying as it was just me, a tiny paint brush & some black glossy multi-surfaced paint. Again, thanks so much for your comment! It means a lot to me!

Beautiful cosplay!  How did you do your hair?  I've been trying to figure out how to do it, but it's like...impossible to find instructions for it online.

Aww Thank you very much! I found a couple different tutorials online actually! All you need is a fine toothed comb, some bobby pins and a LOT of aerosol hairspray! The best search terms for google/youtube are 'beehive' '60s' and 'bouffant'… &… are pretty much the method I used :)
